Self Improvement Month — September 3, 2021

Self Improvement Month

September is self improvement month at ArkLaTex Dermatology.  Most of us have had a great summer, but it shows on our face. Sunspots and uneven pigment age our skin. Here are some great tips for skin brightening.

1) Start with one or a series of chemical peels.  Our Vitalize and Rejuvenize peels have minimal downtime.  The VI peel is also great, but you may have a little more peeling.  Peels are 20% off this month.

2) Try a complete skin program with exfoliant, bleaching creams and antioxidants.  Our Obagi Nuderm and ZO pigment control kits have everything you need. They are 10% off in September.

3) Excel V laser treatments are great to remove red and brown discoloration on the face neck and chest.

If you don’t know where to start, book a free cosmetic consultation.

Sculptra — July 3, 2021

Sculptra

Do you want to:

Treat more than just wrinkles, lines and folds?

Have subtle results that emerge gradually over time?

Address an underlying cause of facial aging?

Achieve a full face rejuvenation?

If you said yes to one or more of these questions, then Sculptra may be right for you. Sculptra is an injectable product that stimulates the growth of your own collagen. Results are not immediate, but they are long lasting. Furthermore, it can be used to fill in lost volume throughout the mid face.  It is also a great product for men, because it follows the contours of the male face.

The average patient gets a series of injections over 2 to 4 months. Younger individuals may need only one session.

Come see if Sculptra is right for you.

Why Accutane? — May 5, 2021

Why Accutane?

Acne is one of the most common diagnoses in my office. While not considered a serious medical problem, it can be a source of low self esteem and even permanent scarring.

So who should consider Accutane and why? If you have been on oral antibiotics greater than 6 months as well as multiple topical creams, this may be a better option. Accutane is normally a 5 or 6 month course. Almost everyone clears during this time, and the vast majority stay clear. The most common side effect—dryness—is less of a problem in summer.

Talk to your dermatologist about whether Accutane is right for you.

Vampire Facial (Liquid Gold) — November 17, 2020

Vampire Facial (Liquid Gold)

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) can be used for a liquid facelift (sometimes known as a Vampire Facelift) or can be injected into the scalp to help regrow hair. This same PRP can be used with microneedling to enhance collagen growth (known as a Vampire Facial), and with our Infini-RF Microneedling machine.

At Ark-La-Tex Dermatology, we offer all of these treatments! Make an appointment with one of our doctors or Aestheticians to see what is right for you.

Infini—Radiofrequency microneedling—A new twist to restore your skin. — September 20, 2020

Infini—Radiofrequency microneedling—A new twist to restore your skin.

If fine lines and loss of firmness are your problem, this may be your solution.  Infini uses your body’s own reaction to firm the skin by delivering energy directly to the dermis through gold plated micro needles. The top layer of the skin is protected, allowing treatments on all skin types, even tanned skin.

Scars, acne scarring as well as overall skin rejuvenation may be treated in one to three office visits. And even better, this procedure is discounted in September.  Schedule your consultation today

Pimple? Here’s what NOT to do. — July 15, 2020
Super Zit? — July 12, 2020

Super Zit?

Super zits are super annoying! Here are some tips for treating.

1) Do. Not. Mash!  This actually makes it last longer.

2) Apply benzoyl peroxide nightly as part of your skin care regimen for several nights to dry it.

3) Call your dermatologist to inject it with a mild cortisone solution.

4) If cystic acne is a chronic problem, see your dermatologist about oral therapy.
