Avoid a Sunburned Face this Spring — May 2, 2021

Avoid a Sunburned Face this Spring

Some of the worst sunburns I see are in the early Spring. The weather is cool, so it’s easier to stay out longer and not feel uncomfortable until it’s too late.

So, here are my favorite facial sunscreens.

  1. Skinceuticals physical fusion UV defense—It even comes tinted and is very light.
  2. Elta UV clear—great for acne prone skin
  3. ZO sunscreen plus primer—a zinc oxide titanium dioxide combo for sensitive skin
  4. Colorescience Sunforgettable— a powdered sunscreen that can be applied over makeup.

All of these are available at ArkLaTex Dermatology.

Let’s Spring Clean Your Skin — March 21, 2021

Let’s Spring Clean Your Skin

March is spring cleaning month, and the best way to start is with the ZO Getting Skin Ready kit.

Always start with a cleanser. Hydrating cleanser is good for normal to dry skin, but the exfoliating cleanser is best for oily skin.

Next, tone your skin with complexion renewal pads or oil control pads. This allows any of your beauty products to absorb better into the epidermis.

Finally, don’t forget to exfoliate. The ZO exfoliating polish tops off your cleansing regimen by removing dead cells.

Take advantage of a free cosmetic consultation to adapt this regimen to your skin.

5 Tips for Your Best Skin This Spring

1)Buy your sunscreen now –SPF 30 or higher.

2) To further protect against UV rays, use an antioxidant each morning–good products include TNS Essential Serum or CE Ferulic.

3) Use an exfoliant at least 1-2 times per week (Finishing Touch by Revision).

4) Hydroquinone or other bleaching creams at night to avoid “age spots.”

5) Retin A for rebuilding damaged skin.

Ask your dermatologist to customize your skin care regimen.  At ArkLaTex Dermatology, cosmetic consults are free.
